huawei os phone it is
Isn't that even more locked down?
HarmonyOS has an open source version as well and aren’t an evil entity trying to take over the global internet. https://openharmony.cn/
I mean, if it works I'm for it. I fucking hate android tbh.
I wish I could just have a phone with debian or something.
Funnily enough there is a Debian derivative for phones. However it only supports the devices listed here, pretty much the same as other mobile distros like postmarketOS and Ubuntu touch.
Yeah, I actually have one with postmarketos and it's fun but still so many features are missing and the battery drains sooo fast lol
Is there a Huawei with open harmony by default, or do I have to do the install myself?
You'd have to do the install yourself and buy direct from Huawei. I don't know if Huawei still provides OEM unlock codes, but as of 2018 they were charging $60 for the code.
IDK maybe, but will it literally be 0% of phone manufacturers that deviate away from Google on this to get an extra bullet point on their feature list?
Tech is a such a distraction. Wish Google did this ten years ago.
Yeah but it's China
Ok, I've had enough shady experience with Chinese software as well, have you ever tried unlocking a bootloader for xiaomi? It used to be easy as pie, now it's the most frustrating process ever.
I tried it with a huawei way back, it was frustrating back then.
