Towing and having a real back seat. I'm really not sure what's so complicated.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Parking is what's complicated, mostly.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yeah, which is why I use my sports car. Different tools and such.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Truck and sports car? That's some advanced compensation.

I race cars in actual scca and lemons races 15 times a year supported by my family and friends while enjoying a 15 year old Miata that's slower than my wifes Outback.

I am living my literal childhood dream. There are far better ways to try and flex than driving a 20 year old truck you bought for $2000 and driving around an NC Miata.

It's just so amazing how you (and most) make up these imaginary personalities and personas of people based off an article you've read 7 years ago linking to a private report that nobody has actually 🤣.

Like, conspiracy theory Joe Rogan levels of trusting that and then creating an imaginary person in your head. Bonkers!

Weird. Because 95% of these I see have zero passengers, cargo, or things being hauled. They are taking up 4 parking spots, though!

Don't need a truck bed to tow. Need a strong frame and good electric engine (better torque)

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So where do you apartment dwellers store your trailer?

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Honestly don't want cars to exist. But the same placd as everyone else; in a parking spot?that's what towing is. Car brains are the least creative things in the world.

[–] copd@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have an EV myself but towing with electric vehicles has its disadvantages.

Tounge weight and towing capacity is usually lowere by the exact difference in weight of the lithium ion batteries you are already hauling. usually 1 ton difference to its ICE counterpart.

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

So you're saying they have shit frames? And need stronger frames to go with their atrong electric motors?

[–] Bluewing@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Nope. He's saying that the weight of the battery pack eats up 2000lbs of towing capacity. Plus the shit frames they are built on to cut weight to help due to the battery packs.

Ill be honest; i mostly know about trains which are just better than cars

But i know electric motors are much torqier than combustion.

And i don't suuuuper care about the particulars, because we shouldn't have cars and cannot keep burning fossil fuels.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world -2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I completely agree. I'd love a shorter bed + more seat room and maybe small cap. I only really need the towing the bed only gets used 10 times a year.

[–] OpticalMoose@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Both can tow. The new Ranger can tow more because it's really a mini F-150. Buying a compact pickup to get back seats is dumb.

It doesn't bother me that larger trucks exist, but some of us want compact pickups.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The ranger only tows 8000 lbs iirc. Not enough for me. I'd probably get a large SUV at that point. I think most people I've met with bigger trucks care mostly about towing capacity vs having a bed.

I agree there is a gap in what you want, I just personally think the use case is less common and not what I want haha.

[–] OpticalMoose@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Perfectly fair. You can have what you want. I just want to have what I want.🙂

I'm trying to buy a compact on Autotrader and compacts are selling for more than low-end full size, so I think there's a demand.

[–] CallMeAnAI@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Sorry, not trying to argue with you too if that came off wrong!

[–] OpticalMoose@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 2 weeks ago

No worries! I'm not trying to do that either.
