I believe they can function as bluetooth speakers, which doesn't need wifi or internet. You just have to pair them with your iOS device.

[Edit] Nope, im wrong. You are not able to use them as bluetooth speakers.

Not bluetooth but "AirPlay" without an account logged in is my interest
