Those guys are musicians though, not some corporate execs. Not to mention, I’m fairly certain Taylor could make a brutal death metal album and her fans would still buy and listen to it. I’m not convinced she needs some corporately-distilled secret sauce.

yeah, sure. and I'm sure that they all have the same feelings she does and are not in it for the paycheque. In fact, music theoreticians will be working feverishly in an attempt to understand the compositional techniqes they are going to bring forth and change the face of music forever with, just like with the other ones.
