I will never get this, other than manufacturers selling you an additional cell plan. Everyone has a cell phone, and modern cell phones act as a WiFi hotspot for your laptop.

Fwiw not every plan supports hotspots or they are capped or expensive compared to data only SIM plans, and it’s also extra steps if you’re on the go a lot (although if you’re using an iPhone and a Mac apple does make it easier)
