To be fair, it would be difficult to be on Lemmy and not be aware of this stuff, it's the vast majority of people who have no exposure to this kind of stuff that are the problem.

I literally read just about every single thing posted to Lemmy, at least anything Midwest.Social is federated with, and I havent seen a single link posted about foreign tourists being detained since those two German girls got detained in Hawai’i for no reason several months ago
