I'm not sure it's an age thing, but more of a where you are in life thing.
I don't have a house and my apartment comes with a fridge and a range. There is a laundry room in the building.
And I'm guessing that appliance would be delivered? Because again, I don't want to have to move it. Not even if I change place.
If I'd win an appliance, I'd just sell it on the spot. Such a hassle.
On The Price is Right and many other similar shows people always have the option of taking the cash value instead and most people do because you still have to pay taxes (in the US) on your winnings regardless. You also get the item right then and most people are visiting LA on vacation and can’t take a couch or fridge back with them. The exception is cars where they will buy it from a dealership local to you if you take the car.
