Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.
Rules:
-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --
-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --
-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --
-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --
-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--
-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--
-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --
-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Holy wars: famously minimal in their civilian casualties, targeted in their destruction, and compact in their duration.
Edit: One of the times the Catholics did this, they consumed the flesh of their slain enemies. Really the less they are involved in whatever happens there the better.
If the Catholic Crusader armies want to consume the flesh of their slain IDF enemies they're allowed to, a little, as a treat. I honestly cannot give less of a shit about "civilian causalities" in a holy war against the Zionist Entity.
Okay but like its not just Israelis who live there. Do you think Palestinian Muslims would do well if we let tradcaths decide where the bombs were dropped. Then again this is pointless. The pope can't call a crusade, American Catholics who actually say the deus vult shit are functionally protestants and the rest of the Catholic world isnt going to give enough of a shit. Like if you think Lula or Sheinbaum are going to organise an invading army on behalf of Leo you're just not connected to reality.
This is obviously a shit post, yes there will be no holy crusade, and Pope Leo is not raising an army lol. Dude met with Ben Shapiro and the VP, he's not going against Western imperialism in any sense.
People treating a “the Pope in 2025 should execute an armed international crusade into Israel in real life” post with absolute seriousness, and then telling you to touch grass, has to be one of my favorite HB bits
what's a little cannibalism when your enemy spermjacks their own soldiers?
I'm gonna let you work through that little moral conundrum on your own.
catholics can have little a cannibalism, as a treat.
Catholics are already having a little cannibalism as a treat, that's the entire point of transubstantiation
Im not trying to defend the Catholic Church here. It is an institution that as far as I can tell have been right on precisely one issue in 1000 years (Eugenics, they were opposed). But the last crusade was in like the 17th century, even if you're only counting crusades in the middle east we're in the 14th or 15h century.
Okay but why do we need "unironic" religiously motivated conflict to stop the genocide? Look up the religion of the people they were eating, it's not like the Deus Vult guys are going to stop with Jews. This whole thing isn't even funny as a bit, it's just unhinged.
I don't think an actual crusading army would be a humanitarian force, I don't believe i said they would be. In fact I think its pointed out that I don't consider the Catholic Church to be that moral an actor. I'm simply pointing out that there were 700 years of religious war crimes after what you said was the last time they did this.
