Do not underestimate the greed and short sightedness of the republicans. They don't care about anything more than what puts the most money in their pockets right now.
The Military Industrial Complex won't let some politicians get in the way of their control of the nearly $1 Trillion annual military budget.
Yeah, I can't see how pissing off Raytheon, Lockmart, etc. is a good idea. That's how your political opponent ends up with billion-dollar election funds.
Personally, I see every reason to piss them off. Then again, I think that we need to finally heed Eisenhower's warning about the MIC and find a way to shut it down. Mind you, I also think we need to heed Goldwater's warning about the Republican party, and Washington's warnings about both forming parties and being tied up in Eurasian politics & culture.
It won't ever happen, of course, because it's not the most profitable thing. And it would take power away from the kleptocrats and give it back to the people.
