If you're in medical school, you would have been there at least in the beginning of Biden's term. Texas was still a shit hole then.

What made you go to medical school in fucking Texas?

The number of people I know who have voluntarily moved there with absolutely no reason have been shocking. I have a co-worker who moved from NYC to Dallas for no reason outside of "I wanted to move somewhere different."

Not a job relocation. No family there. Just straight up "I'm moving".

Texas has TMDSAS, which makes anyone who is a resident of Texas automatically a sour grape for the national AMCAS system. Essentially, if you are from Texas, your chances of getting in out of state is pretty much nil unless you are the top 99%.

Leaving Texas is not a small feat. And I already knew Texas was falling into a deeper rabbit hole of conservatism, but you talk as if it's so easy for myself or my colleagues to leave.

Believe me, if it were that simple, many of us would have done it. Many out of state schools won't even look at Texas applicants because of the TMDSAS protectionist policies. It feels like you are generalizing your anecdotal experience to the broader whole, and that's just not realistic.
