a high quality pocket knife. never leave home without one.
I understand the logic, but I've never been in a situation when I thought "I wish I had a pocket knife"
What game are you changing exactly with this?

Not for defense. You can carry a knife like when you also carry food because you can justify needing it. You can't carry a knife without such reason
I need the knife to cut food at my destination though
Not anymore. All knives are now banned in public because apparently we are toddlers. Or they think that terrorists won't find any way to hurt people now. Because surely legality is where any knife murderer draws the line...
Edit : I think laguioles and swiss army knives are still ok since they have no blade lock. But apparently there is now zero legal difference between my extrema ratio knife (which is admittedly really blurring the line between EDC and "tactical" knife) and an Opinel.
Oh wow, I didn't know that.
My EDC is a Spyderco Para 3, but IMHO Kershaw is a great budget brand. I really like the Iridium, but the finish is a bit too delicate for my taste because I keep my knife in the same pocket with my keys.
