The problem with traditional taxis is that after booking them, you have no indication of when they will show up and along the way, you mostly have no information about the cost. Same thing if you get a taxi on the street without pre booking. You have no idea of the resulting price.

The two big minicab firms in my town both use apps with very similar functionality to Uber. Fixed fare, vehicle tracking etc.

Uber doesn't have a monopoly on nice apps. It's [current year], that stuff is standard now.

Depends on where you are. In Australia most taxi companies have an app that works like uber. Shows you the route and a fixed price. And when a driver picks up your fare, it'll show you where they are.

Taxi's are pretty shite tbh even with the app :\

Do the taxi's have something like Uber Green:

Haha honestly I have no idea. I live near a train station so not a lot of opportunity to catch either taxis or uber..

Here in Germany there's a site that let's you calculate estimated cost. Depends on the course taken and, of course, will be more reliable the longer the trip is. But still. I also once had a deal with one driver for a flatrate for trips.

Sure they're disgustingly expensive here, but fuck UBER. More and more of those show up here. And when they managed to fuck taxis outta existence, the prices will rise.
