Um, it's the Catholic Church, progressivism shouldn't be expected anyway.

I'm not saying this as a dig on Catholicism - if you study world religions, they all have their code, their rules. Progressivism isn't part of Catholicism. Expecting otherwise is silly.

It's not that we expect them to be progressive, it's actually that we expect them to stick to the teachings of the Bible, THATS the progressive but, because all the right wing crazies are, supposedly religious and they purport religion to give reason to their crazy shit. So when the top religious guy goes, nope, at them, it breaks all their coercive manipulations to excuse their evil bullshit AND bonus icing, it labels it evil for all to see. We want more. I'm not even religious, or American, and I'm invested.

The only thing I know about this pope is what I've gathered from Lemmy comments. According to those:

He's homophobic and anti-trumpism in the aspect of immigrants.

I think that's a pretty average catholic. Homophobia and helping the poor.

Neither progressive nor fascist.
