I paused in the middle of reading your post trying to imagine what kinds of tiny tasks are at all encumbered by federal regulations... it's certainly not part of my life. But was thinking maybe if you deal with import/export somehow or something... Or you run a pirate radio station.

But of course it's about guns. No other hobby attracts whiners at such a rate.

The idea of pulling the red carpet out from under you is a very funny metaphor mixup because it suggests the red carpet was initially rolled out, which is a way of saying you were given special privileged royal treatment. But now you are forced to stand on the normal street like some sort of pedestrian and get treated like other people. booo hoo
