I love all Fallout games but the first two are like completely different from other ones in my opinion. It's not just about the gameplay . It's about the feelings. Even hearing the music which plays when narrator enters, gives me goosebumps. They had more serious worlds and scenarios when compared to other ones. Bosses, characters etc... That's why I can still remember first two games, even the themes in my mind.

Agree, there is a noticeable difference in presentations and world building between FO1/FO2 and say Fallout 3.

I thought New Vegas was good though.

Yes New Vegas was good too. I think it's the best one in the FPS Fallouts. Company difference have a big impact on the games.
