I have Name of the Wind. Never read it, but it was highly recommended to me in college. I'm glad I never started if it's still an incomplete story lol. Is it worth starting anyway or does it end in a cliffhanger like Game of Thrones?

The first one is still good as a stand alone if you go into it knowing the large scale stuff won't get resolved, like a slice of life piece in a fantasy setting.

That's not too bad.

You basically know the end of the main narrative by the midway point of the book. It’s how the character got there that’s missing.

It doesn't end in a cliffhanger but....if you love it like others do you'll be dying to know how the next book is supposed to; personally though I'm just curious, not more than that. There's a hilariously cringey aspect but you might consider it a spoiler (though it's not a plot spoiler):

spoilerthe main character becomes a wild sex machine
