It really sucks that the poor and working class demographics would rather vote for a party that doesn't give a shit about them and will strip away social safety nets like healthcare and education funding. Whatever it takes to own the libs and fuck Trudeau i guess.
Poor or “working class” (fuck I hate that term), male, under 50. The most disgruntled group. Maybe it’s less pro-conservative, and more just anything-but-status-quo. Frustrating. They should have an option that is constructive instead of conservative.
You could argue the NDP has a lot of meaningful changes that could boost that demographic, in my experience social media has them tricked into thinking its other poor people or their natural fate keeping them poor, not the exploitatative practices of corporations and oligarchs.
"Your rent doubled, but if you quit your job you get 500$ for dental, funded entirely by debt and future austerity. Why arent you appreciative?"
Yeah this is the thing that really makes me hope for the demise of the current crop of Conservatives. I want a party that can offer an alternative vision to the Liberals, who can offer hope for the working class or those falling through the cracks of Liberal policies (to the extent that Conservatives do that, which is another matter). But I wish they didn't have to give a bunch of people hope at the cost of removing rights from others, or dismantling government protections for all of us. It makes the people they're helping feel like hating on minorities is just the price they need to pay for government support. The Conservatives are taking advantage of the poor situation of these people, and their desperation, to ram through regressive social policy. It's devious and dangerous, and I hope they get permanently removed from the political discussion.
