Here’s a /c/dullmensclub thing I learned lately, staying hydrated will give you more energy. So I’ve been doing cups of tea with a pinch of salt for the electrolytes and then sip on water in between. The hell of it is it works but my adhd ass will forget and I’ll have to rediscover this simple shit if I can’t at least habit stack it.

Although staying hydrated will keep your energy levels up, tea has caffeine in it, too. As long as you're eating food once in awhile, you don't need to worry about electrolytes.

I’ve been doing well with herbal teas too, my lemon blend pairs decent. I add sugar to all my teas as well so I barely taste any salt.

Edit: Your question gave me a new question because I do intermitting fasting. Went down a rabbit hole and it turns out I’ve probably been giving myself low sodium levels for a while and therefore lower energy levels by intermitting fasting. I still think the pinch of sodium in teas can help a variety of situations but do so at what you think is best for your health.

I never drank any coffee and I'm also able to live. People who "need" coffee are often caffeine addicts.

Like you said, water is all you really need, tea is great also if you want a bit of taste and/or warmth.

Caffeine addiction is a bit of a who cares situation

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

true, health is not important

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If caffeine is what causes you actual health concerns then your health might not be that great to begin with tbh

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com -5 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Are you dumb? Too much caffeine is unhealthy, just like sugar. Would you claim that having a sugar addiction is not a concern either?

You might want to look into how serious caffeine addiction actually is medically. You get it from fairly small amounts and its effects on the body are very minor. That's why nobody much cares about it.

https://www.verywellmind.com/caffeine-addiction-4157287#toc-how-caffeine-can-negatively-affect-your-health

Caffeine has various effects on the body that are potentially harmful to your health. Caffeine has been associated with increased blood pressure and heart rhythm changes.

Some caffeinated products, such as coffee and soda, can cause gastrointestinal disturbances.

There is also a question of whether caffeine might increase your risk of osteoporosis. One study found this to be the case for women in menopause with high caffeine intake.

[...]

Some research has shown that caffeine may be linked to symptoms of psychosis and mania in people who have psychotic disorders or mood conditions.

[...]

Symptoms associated with trying to cut back your caffeine habit or missing your daily "dose" are:

  • Feeling tired or sleepy
  • Reduced mental alertness
  • Slower reaction times
  • Worsened performance on memory tasks
[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

And does some of that, both through severity and likelihood, sound concerning to you? Cutting back while having an addiction and feeling tired or sleepy? Nothing most would much care about.

[–] stebo02@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

umm yes? are you trolling or something

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago

I'm not trolling, none of what you posted is concerning considering the amounts needed and the likelihood.

You can choke on a steak but would be fairly silly to go around concerned about the life hazardous risks of steak.

[–] scintilla@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago

The sheer amount of stress that existing in the modern day causes for most people is significantly more medically significant to caffeine addiction, and a lot of it is people finding an escape from their work by getting a coffee.
