I bought this back in December. It took me a couple months because the curse of owning so many games as that I want to play all of them, so I rarely finish any of them. But this year, I've resolved to finally beat more games.

And Gris was quite an experience! It's a 2D metroidvania with puzzle platforming elements. But I also feel that's selling it short.

I felt like I was inhabiting a hand-drawn animated film. This was cinematic in the best way possible. This was a tour-de-force in terms of visuals and sound. It's certainly not anything that will break your GPU, but in terms of pure art, this was breath-taking.

And it was an emotional journey too. At its core, this is game is about grief and loss. This one is a tearjerker.

I think what makes this game exceptional is how you interact with colour. As the game starts, everything is stark and minimalistic. But as things go on, the palette opens up and the world comes alive.

This isn't a long game. I completed it in a little over four hours. But it makes such an impact over those four hours.

Definitely, I recommend this. I played this on my Steam Deck, and it made for an excellent experience as I played this in several environments on the go. Phenomenal. One of the best games ever made.

Great review, I am sold. I actually kind of skimmed over the end of it because I didn't want to spoil anything and just go in blind, I love the initial description of inhabiting hand-drawn animated world and am eager to check it out.
