...to show that it is possible for anyone to make a nice, solid laptop.

Actually, this showed me that I should never try. Very impressive work indeed. I assumed that it would be clipping together a bunch of ready-made parts, but it was far more involved than that.

For ready-made parts, get a Framework instead!
