Casual reminder that you can buy a brand new AR for $500
Shit. I'm going to need to get a gun, aren't I?
Yep
And some training/practice, yes. Check if there’s some decent orgs around who can help you with the latter
Hopefully. Feels like all the gun owners in my area are chuds.
Please tell me more, I wanted an AK in 5.56 but dont know if that's doing too much, what would you recommend?
keep it practical, AR-15 and/or reliable polymer striker-fired pistol
Already GLAWKED UP!!
Dad has a few but they all look like garbage and unreliable
Modern ARs are fine, cheaper than AKs in the US, and the parts are very available. AKs are fun but the practical answer in the USA is just get a decent AR.
I kinda want to go for a CZ pistol. Is that practical?
The CZ P-10 is great.
I've had a CZ-75 sp01 for years. Love it
AKs are cool but in the US you will just find so many AR parts and such for cheap it makes it more practical
If you have whole a lot of money for hobbies that's a cool sort of gun. If you need like, A Gun, just get an AR-15 in 556. They're very well supported in the US. By far the easiest to get/swap parts for, ammo for, repairs, etc. They are like legos.
AKs in 7.62x39 are also sort of all over the place, so they're fairly easy to deal with logistically. Just not as much as the AR, and they're harder to customize. And they used to be pretty cheap but the prices went up quite a bit after the Russia sanctions and the pandemic.
