That's right folks the year is drawing to a close so it's time to rehash last year's bit, nominate, and vote for your 2024 Hexies! These are the Hexbears you think exemplify what it means to be a real Hexbear
Here's how it works:
-
Pick from the below categories
-
Nominate someone for that category by tagging them
-
If you are nominated respond to the nomination to accept it
-
Most upbeared accepted nomination in each category wins!
What do you win? The esteem of your fellow Hexbearian comrades of course. What more could you want?
The categories for this year's 2024 Hexie awards are:
-
Best Effortposter of 2024
-
Most likely to be called a tankie on a blocked instance
-
Most comradely Hexbear
This year we have a special bonus category to commemorate some of the new comms we added:
- Best bad poster (this is not the worst poster, this is the best poster that is bad at posting)
We got a lot of new posters this year and have a lot of great comrades visiting from federated instances, feel free to participate too! We love all of our great posters, don't we folks?
Alright comrades that's it from me, be sure and do your democratic duty and for your 2024 Hexie winners and congrats in advance to the winners of this highly coveted and prestigious award!
And for one small trip down memory lane, here's last year's Hexies!

I’d like to nominate @cowbee@hexbear.net for Effortposter for his post about reading theory which got me started with theory. Idk if he’s the #1 effort poster of all Hexbear, but I appreciated this effort post in particular.
Thank you, comrade!
Honestly kind of surprised at the overwhelmingly positive response it got, I consider myself a "baby ML" but wanted to put something together in the aftermath of the US election to help disaffected liberals. I believed it was a good way to push a lot of them in a more positive, constructive direction than doing the usual misconception correction I do over on Lemmy.ml. There are definitely better effortposters here though, which is why I try to stick to correcting errors I see over on Lemmy.ml.
Plus, it's no secret that I had help, most notably from @ReadFanon@hexbear.net and @Edie@hexbear.net who both supported my project in different, essential ways.
I've thought that, if you are a "baby" ML, then I must still be in the womb, which makes you seem (to me) like you know a bunch.
I mean, I've read a good deal in the last year, but I am not organized yet and there are many fundamental texts I have not yet read (like Capital, which is on the menu for 2025 for me). I won't play false humility, I do think I have been able to grasp the essentials and basics fairly well at this point, but now I can see just how much more there is to learn. You do very well from what I've seen, I haven't seen any bad takes from you yet!
Wow, never seen two peas in a pod so alike, awww
