They investigate and arrest the perpetrator? I can only imagine your perception is of that in someone in USA?

Canada, and they were very clear they did not intend to investigate the break in. It was a storage locker in my apartment building and they were frequently targeted, along with the bike storage. There were many complaints to management and to the police and they both kind of spider man meme'd each other.
