I like having ownership of my internet experience so I run a lemmy instance and my friend administrates it. It is more fun than using a botted network.
do you run it locally?
I started with it locally, but I migrated it to a hosting provider because of their managed services and I'm lazy. I take offsite hourly backups and own the domain so if anything happens I can rebuild it elsewhere.
Which provider? Thatβs nice to have that freedom

Any tips for getting it running? Iβm struggling
I could only get it to work with docker and not using ansible, the instructions are pretty good but if you have a specific question I can try and help. I do IT for a living so I guess I filled in some context maybe https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/install_docker.html
I got it somewhat running but I keep receiving errors from the postgres saying it was shut down. and when i try to login it says toastify is awesome.
