Why am I the only person to have no fucking clue who this is?

[–] Blaster_M@lemmy.world 1 points 22 hours ago

Because you aren't browsing videos on youtube's Trending page on the daily? MrBeast started as a gamerbros do things channel and got popular, then started becoming a cursed gameshow host (but the youtube version). He's an antivillain, through and through. I've known that from the start. However, until allegations show something that's not just edgy teenager groupchat dirt, I won't judge further.

Is he a good guy? No. Is he the scum of society? Not yet.

[–] Danakin@feddit.org 80 points 2 days ago

Everything I know about MrBeast I have learned involuntarily...

[–] nutsack@lemmy.world 20 points 2 days ago (1 children)

there's a good chance you are over the age of 15

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

You are correct

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Why not Google him then? It's what the vast majority of people that know him have had to do, because we sure as shit don't watch his content.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -5 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Because I don't really wanna know who he is. He sounds horrible and like he won't be very popular in the future anyhow.

[–] AbsoluteChicagoDog@lemm.ee 10 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This is exactly how boomers act. "This thing I don't understand and refuse to learn about makes me angry"

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Right? Lemmy is fucking wild sometimes. I don't know why so many people here feel the need to show off about ignorance...

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -5 points 1 day ago

I don't know why so many people have to whine so much about an innocuous internet comment

[–] mostdubious@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

exactly. "oh look. some new piece of shit is shaping the minds of the dumbass kids that the dumbass breeders sit in front of their dumbass devices while they go plug into their job pods"

humanity is a garbage pile.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago

I wish I could argue with this but I really cannot.

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Why post about him then? Why be publicly ignorant about someone you dislike?

[–] mostdubious@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

this is how we display our disdain for this mindless garbage

[–] EnderMB@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Through ignorance?

I'm all for hating Mr Beast, but at least know why to hate the cunt.

[–] mostdubious@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago

i'm smart enough to not waste my time knowing this garbage.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Why respond to me? I was basically asking if I was alone and found out I'm not. Nowhere in my comment did I ask anyone to argue with me

[–] mostdubious@lemmy.world -1 points 2 days ago

they must be a fan

[–] sprolemo@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Grumbles in elder millennial: I'm quite annoyed that we're in the era of some youtubers and streamers getting so popular that I'm forced to learn of their existence like athletes, actors, and pop music people. I was not prepared for this new reality.

[–] Sauerkraut@discuss.tchncs.de 17 points 2 days ago

Fellow millennial here and I'd say the common culture of the past that made us feel stupid for not knowing certain famous people is mostly dead. Society is so splintered in what media we consume that even my friends with very similar interests consume different games, movies, books, music, etc.

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 33 points 2 days ago

I think it's because his audience is mostly kids & teens.

[–] yannic@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

One of those until-recently mouth agape YouTubers.

[–] quixote84@midwest.social 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I wonder if the "mouth agape" Youtube phenomenon has anything to do with that pose being overly represented in AI generated images.

[–] mostdubious@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

yep. pretty much.

[–] bluewing@lemm.ee 5 points 2 days ago

No, you are not. I'm in the same boat. The only thing I know about him is he is a big shot youtuber. Never seen anything he's ever done to be "famous".

Nor do I care to. And I can't be arsed to even read the article about him.

[–] BruceTwarzen@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

I saw that face on a toy thing in the supermarket. Which is odd to ve honest.

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I think he's the youtube guy that consumes dubious food/beverage.

[–] IMNOTCRAZYINSTITUTION@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (2 children)
[–] atlas@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

and that man is a legend.

unlike this polished turd

[–] bitchkat@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Whichever one was second chose a poor name.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago
[–] forgotaboutlaye@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

You might know of him by his food lines. Beastbars are all over the supermarkets in Germany. The marketing on the packaging didn't really fit in with what I expect to see (he doesn't look like a footballer or athlete) so I looked him up and learned from there.
