I planted some baby trees in my previously barren yard! The maples are already starting to leaf, and since I've never planted a hickory before I'm going to fret over it until it leafs and proves to me that I didn't somehow manage to kill it
That's super exciting! Any plans for other plants?
Tentatively. I really want to have a full food forrest eventually, but I'm trying to to take it slow and start with establishing the bigger plants, then play it by ear from there.
What hardiness zone are you in, and have you ever had a paw paw fruit, by any chance? Because if it grows in your area, I highly recommend it. It's the most tropical-tasting native Midwest fruit I've ever had.
Interesting you say that! I'm in 7b (recently reclassified from 6a) and I actually did plant some pawpaw seeds! Still waiting to see if they'll sprout though - they had a bit of mould growth after taking them out from cold stratification so I'm hoping at least a couple survived.
Ooh, crossing my fingers for you! ๐ค๐ฝ๐ค๐ฝ
