More accurately a quarter of a whole is a half of a half of a whole
Morer accurately, a quarter of a whole is half of a whole half which is half of a whole
'A quarter of a half' would be 0.5x0.25 (0.5x1/4 = 0.5/4) and it's not a half. The equation shown is 'a quarter divided by a half'.
