I have a collection of about ~110 4K Blu-Ray movies that I've ripped and I want to take the time to compress and store them for use on a future Jellyfin server.

I know some very basics about ffmpeg and general codec information, but I have a very specific set of goals in mind I'm hoping someone could point me in the right direction with:

  1. Smaller file size (obviously)
  2. Image quality good enough that I cannot spot the difference, even on a high-end TV or projector
  3. Preserved audio
  4. Preserved HDR metadata

In a perfect world, I would love to be able to convert the proprietary HDR into an open standard, and the Dolby Atmos audio into an open standard, but a good compromise is this.

Assuming that I have the hardware necessary to do the initial encoding, and my server will be powerful enough for transcoding in that format, any tips or pointers?

Earlier this year, a Hawaiian District Court blocked movie companies' efforts to unmask alleged BitTorrent pirates using a DMCA subpoena 'shortcut'. The filmmakers asked the court to reconsider its position but without success; the 'DMCA shortcut' will remain closed. The rightsholders will appeal the order but won't be able to use evidence previously obtained through settlements with pirating subscribers.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has proposed new customer verification requirements for Infrastructure as a Service providers. The goal of the 'Know Your Customer' regime is to prevent fraud and abuse, including piracy. In response to this plan, prominent rightsholders want the department to expand the proposal's scope to include domain name registrars and registries. Ideally, they argue, domain companies should also be required to take down pirate domains.

After movie-web got taken down including all their github repositories, a fork called sudo-flix emerged.

Their links are:

From what I can tell, it's a perfectly working fork. So go ahead and star, fork and host instances and code on other platforms!

This isn't exactly piracy, as I intend to pay, but I'm wondering how I can use a VPN to get a cheap Deezer subscription.

I'm trying to use TunnelBear with an Argentine IP to get a very cheap Deezer subscription, but I keep getting an error when I try, and I think it might be because the credit card I'm using is not from Argentina.

Is there a way around this? If not, do any other music streaming services allow you to use a VPN for foreign pricing rates?

I hope this is the proper place to ask, though probably only indirectly on topic for this community.

What I am looking for is a way or tool to extract from a YouTube playlist the information which of my saved videos (usually very niche music from about a decade ago) are no longer available in it (so that I might procure them elsewhere).

With google being google, and the condensed information of "x videos are no longer available" that is displayed, I am fairly sure the information isnt gone gone, just hidden from the user.

Is there a way to get at that info?

Thanks in advance

Hey all, please don't even think of replying here with suggestions for actual IPTV providers, just DM me if you're willing to make a suggestion. Otherwise, let me know if the below situation is normal.

Long story short, I'm new to IPTV and looking for one that does US sports. I just got semi-scammed (at least, misrepresented) by a provider I found on one of the forums.

I spent most of my trial period struggling to get a VPN to work (and thought I did). Then I paid for six months, which was dumb as shit.

I picked up PIA to replace Mullvad, since that one has an Apple TV client and I'm Mac/iOS/tvOS. That broke IPTV on all devices. And why? Because these guys block VPNs due to "other IPTV provider want to steal our streams from their servers" broken English BS excuse that I can't even make sense of. What does one thing have to do with the other?

They want me to use their VPN, which is based on either Outline or Surfboard (the second doesn't even have a website). On Mac, that would mean using Tunnelblick to run their custom config file. The best part is:

In the chat, I asked what I should do on Apple TV. That's when they ghosted, since they have my money now. And then came back to say "Oh, actually we DO allow VPNs, it's your ISP that's blocking them."

So how come I can go anywhere and do anything on PIA, except use IPTV?

I'd love to know if that situation is abnormal. Am I right that streaming a bunch of IPTV using some rando's config file (or in the clear) is batshit? This is all on the high seas so I gotta use a VPN, right? Am I just misunderstanding the technical issue due to the language barrier?

Experienced IPTV sailor perspectives welcome 🏴‍☠️

I have a **youtube music subscription **and have not figured out how or if I can download music/playlists from it. Note this is different than just downloading music from YouTube. Just wondered if anyone know a way to download to PC or MAC? Thanks

Hello, I want to self-hosted apps get requests from the users (mainly movies), and then I can find a download for it to move it to a jellyfin server. Maybe after that, it could be a little more automated to download stuff automatically 😃 Thx

I recently created a post talking about antimalware software but after reading most comments I'm wondering am I really safe downloading games from Goat websites (of the megathread)...?

Studying is taking a toll on my savings so even though I haven't pirated anything for years and years, I'd love to get back at it.

You can use kaspersky beta versions for free by downloading and installing it from their forum.

As a side note, after you install it you need to disable the debugging options once to get the optimal performance.

I would like to caution everyone that Streamtape is currently flagged as malicious, so it is advisable to avoid using it.

Additionally, Wolfstream has been redirecting to malware-infested sites and initiating malicious downloads upon clicking the ‘download’ option on videos.

Hey all. noob-ish pirate here. Skipping long winded post. I'm struggling to find sources to download/torrent kids cartoons. Some are easy, but I'm looking for paw patrol and it's scarce on 1337. The more modern stuff and the super popular stuff are a little easier though. Not really any information on the Wiki about this stuff.

I see plenty of streaming resources. I guess if it comes down to it I can record it? I don't know the best way to do that, certainly doesn't seem ideal..

I'll update my post to reflect my levels of success :)

Image Late January, the U.S. Department of Commerce published a notice of proposed rulemaking for establishing new requirements for Infrastructure as a Service providers (IaaS) . The proposal boils down to a 'Know Your Customer' regime for companies operating cloud services, with the goal of countering the activities of "foreign malicious actors." Yet, despite an overseas focus, Americans won't be able to avoid the proposal's requirements, which covers CDNs, virtual private servers, proxies, and domain name resolution services, among others.

I wanted to gauge interest in Tribler. It claims to be a tor-like p2p client created by privacy researchers. Has anyone had experience with Tribler? Did you get any takedown notices? What were speeds like?

I watch TV shows when I do cardio in the morning, and it's a minor annoyance to reach for the remote to select the next episode, or skip show intro and credits. Is there a good and reliable way to get that working for all the TV shows that I have ripped FROM DVDs and Blu-ray?
