If France wants to give their own saber a rattle and it makes Russia pause for some internal reflection for a moment, more power to them.

Russia's Β«defenseΒ» budget is estimated to be around 60% higher than France's, though France's GDP is around 70% higher than Russia's.

I'm pretty sure that France has the largest defense industry in Europe also.
