Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

I think it's fair to say we're now well into the age of AI-generated misinformation. Hopefully people aren't casting their vote based on internet photos.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 19 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Simply saying something is true is enough for Trump voters. They don’t need doctored evidence.

[–] at_an_angle@lemmy.one 3 points 8 months ago

You're half correct.

If it's positive, it's true.

If it's negative, it's fake news.

[–] xmunk@sh.itjust.works 6 points 8 months ago

That comment was so meta.

[–] ech@lemm.ee 7 points 8 months ago

"Well into" as in no denying it. We are just seeing the start of its impact, though. I predict it's gonna be a rough decade on that front.

[–] billbasher@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Ya misinformation sucks, but half of the people are below average intelligence. We need further laws to prevent the spread. The lawsuit against Fox was a good start

[–] TimeSquirrel@kbin.social 2 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago)

I feel sorry for the kids. Having to grow up into this. I'm so sorry. Most of us at least had a childhood that was still rooted in actual reality, not this fucked up hyperreality. They were born into it.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 2 points 8 months ago

Look at the eyes and fingers - if something strikes you as wrong, take a working of wrought iron and shove it through your screen with haste

[–] AnyProgressIsGood@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Unfortunately it adds up. Say a lie enough it becomes real kind of thing

[–] Son_of_dad@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

We're nearing the point where the fbi can show up at your door and arrest you for robbing fort Knox, and they'll have videos and photos and AI generated witness testimonies.

[–] modifier@lemmy.ca 67 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

Enjoy it while its clumsy and obvious.

[–] LemmyKnowsBest@lemmy.world 8 points 8 months ago

This is probably their way of slowly inoculating us, soon they will perfect the fingers and other background details and AI will be indiscernable to the casual observer.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 42 points 8 months ago (5 children)

lol. Trump has flipper hands and that guy’s hat is total AI gibberish.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 28 points 8 months ago (3 children)

Plus, he hates black people.

dat hand on the bottom left tho.

[–] Ghostalmedia@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

That nubbin.

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

Remember, this is the worst that AI will be from now on.

[–] elliot_crane@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

You’re right - everyone knows real trumpers would wear good old fashioned human gibberish hats.

[–] IWantToFuckSpez@kbin.social 1 points 8 months ago

Lol he’s the Penguin.

[–] PanoptiDon@lemmy.world 36 points 8 months ago (1 children)

if nothing else, this is a dead giveaway

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 10 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Lol also look at the fingers. One of what looks like should be his hand is clearly a woman's hand, and another has a mini finger and oddly shaped one

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

That could be just his actual finger tho

[–] Everythingispenguins@lemmy.world 33 points 8 months ago

Even AI gave him tiny hands

[–] SeabassDan@lemmy.world 32 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Is that Cosby in the back with the Santa hat?

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 18 points 8 months ago

Rapists of a feather flock together

You can tell they’re fake by looking at his hands.

The algos struggle with tiny hands.

[–] TorJansson@lemm.ee 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Unfortunately, as ControlNet (https://rentry.org/dummycontrolnet) gets better, it's going to get a whole lot harder to distinguish the fakes. It's already pretty good, but a lot of people don't use it regularly because it adds even more processing time to an already time consuming process. Faster hardware and better optimised code will cut that tiime down. The future is going to get messy.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Agreed.

But that’s no reason to not make fun of trump’s hands.

[–] TorJansson@lemm.ee 3 points 8 months ago
[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Yeah one hand looks like a zoidberg claw but with a tiny dick for a pinky. The other has a massive coke nail. That one might be real.

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

The lady on the right also as a weirdly white patch of of skin where his fingers are.

Would be a shame if people made AI photos of Trump with brownshirt Nazis...

[–] iAvicenna@lemmy.world 20 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (3 children)

na-uh you are in the wrong hat, Trump hugging "commies" and holding a lgbtq flag would be the correct approach

[–] catfish@programming.dev 5 points 8 months ago

Giving a trans kid a medal 🥇

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 4 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

I like the way you think. Maybe kissing another man?

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

There's already real video of Trump and Giuliani kissing and more than a few elected GOPs have drag photos. It's very much a rules for thee not for me type of thing.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Damn, no wonder The Onion is having a hard time

Wouldn't work anyway. He's been photographed with all kinds of terrible people in real life.

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Yes, but has he been photographed performing a "satanic ritual?"

[–] Assman@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

He'd never do anything that cool

[–] Telorand@reddthat.com 4 points 8 months ago

Cool you say? "Cool" is the exact sort of thing Conservatives hate!

[–] AnyProgressIsGood@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

That'd excite his base

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

“Look at my African-Americans!”

Relevant clip

[–] Species8472@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Trump supporters combined with the notion of any form of intelligence, artificial or not, is a contradiction.

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Ai generated images are always bad at fingers and complete gibberish when it text or words. Dead giveaway....
