See the animated version here! https://youtube.com/shorts/zXsgzL0qcwc
#comics #breakfast #funny

Image description: [two people are sitting at a table, eating breakfast.]

Person 1: You're putting ketchup on eggs?
Person 2: Yes.

Person 1: Gross, that looks horrible. Person 2: Thanks.

Person 1: You're actually going to eat it?! Person 2: What did you think was going to happen?

Person 1: But I said I don't like it!
Person 2: Okay, so maybe don't eat any of my food.

Ketchup on scrambled eggs is delicious

[–] grue@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago (2 children)

It’s also the most normie thing imaginable. If Family Feud had a “topping for eggs” question, ketchup would be the top survey response.

Thank you for your feedback. I shall henceforth strive for more passion and originality in the toppings I choose for scrambled eggs lest I be dubbed an “egg normie”

[–] grue@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

…not that there’s anything wrong with that!

[–] Sertou@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago

I suspect “cheese” would top, but ketchup would be highly ranked.

I get shit for this too. oh yeah I bet those microwaved scrambles that have sat under a headlamp for 3 hours have such a delicate flavor profile

[–] Cyclist@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Nope. I’m right, you’re wrong.

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Have you actually tried ketchup on your eggs? It’s delightful

[–] Cyclist@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I’ve tried ketchup and I’ve tried eggs. Nuff said.

If you haven’t merged the two together then you haven’t truly lived! Let them get to know each other!

I did as a child and loved it. As an adult, I can abide Sriracha or the like, but plain ketchup sounds vile now.

Chilli oil on eggs is delicious.

[–] MrJameGumb@lemmy.world 1 points 8 months ago

That does sound delicious!

I don’t think anyone genuinely gives a shit

My counter-point: The debate about Pepperoni and pineapple

People seem actually heated about it, but they don’t need to eat it

[–] exocrinous@lemm.ee 2 points 8 months ago

I believe the reason this debate exists is that pizza is communal food.

People make haggis jokes, but nobody has strong opinions on haggis because it stays in Scotland and Scottish people’s houses where it belongs. My boss has never thrown the office a haggis party and my friends have never ordered haggis delivery for game night.

[–] heavy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 8 months ago

I think it’s one of those topics people bring up just to have something to talk about, nobody’s really heated.

Do what I do: half ketchup, half Sriracha!

[–] Xtallll@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

One time I put ketchup on my eggs and some called it “some east coast ass shit”.

[–] StephniBefni@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Well that’s just not true.

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Eggs are gross as shit. Ketchup makes them edible.

[–] remotelove@lemmy.ca 2 points 8 months ago

It really depends on how they are cooked, IMHO. (I am making the assumption that you still eat eggs if you must, but with lots of cover-up.)

If eggs are your only option for food and you have no ketchup, cook them in bacon grease or with lots of butter. Salts and fats work wonders for any food.

Even fried eggs with a little soy sauce (mushroom soy sauce, specifically) may change the texture and taste enough for you.

(Also, IMHO, cooking eggs many different ways is an art form. It doesn’t take much to fuck them up and turn people off of them.)

It’s also a thing about culture eh, here in The Netherlands people will look weird when you put ketchup on egg, while in Japan it’s an actual dish (with rice and chicken) called omurice.
