"Wait for me to move my money out before popping the bubble please"

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Thoughtful and disciplined?

Motherfucker, this is America.

[–] Glytch@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Techbros don't know what either of those words mean

You first, Brad.

[–] biofaust@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Sounds like an invitation to Omertà.

Lol seriously. Probably said something like "communism would never work in the real world cause of human nature" and doesn't see the irony.

[–] EdanGrey@sh.itjust.works 88 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's a bit late for that I think

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 15 points 17 hours ago

"stay calm so I can exit at the top please" doesnt sound as good, i guess

Yeah and as long as we reduce our fossil fuels by 2015 climate change won’t be a problem.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ah yes, "thoughtful and disciplined" are always the first two words that spring to mind when I think about tech bros and a.i.

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 21 hours ago

The only people I would "trust" with it will never willingly interact with it.

Total fucking bubble. Not to say that you can't make money in a bubble, Just be careful

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Lmao holy shit. What a complete fucking imbecile. It’s incredible that he can say that with a straight face.

[–] IronBird@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

imbecile would imply they don't know exactly what they're doing, they just want to keep sheep calm till they can exit themselves at a decent price. then they'll switch to FUD for shits and giggles

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

"stays"!? You mean "after magically becomming so over-night", right, buddy!? I'll tell you now, if you trick me/force me to spend time with any AI, I'm doing everything I can to radicallize that fucker into being as human as any of us.

Notice I didn't say "humane", because that we aren't really, and I will gladly take a bullet to get AIs targetting morons like this man, and the others like him, who seek to enrich themselves by way of continuing to treat the rest of us as disposable and irrelavent.

[–] SouthFresh@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Well, that takes Microsoft out of the equation.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

as long as everyone stays 'thoughtful and disciplined,'

100% of the times this is a requirement humanity falls short.

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Faced with this, we all become Steve-O at his worst: "you dare me to? I'mma do it even dumber and more disappointing than you imagine anyways, but common, please, dare me!!"

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 3 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

I consider the mere implementation of a chat bot to replace proper customer service a declaration of war.

[–] Delphia@lemmy.world 1 points 18 hours ago

The only nice thing I can say about chatbots is that they are a step up from "if your problem is with blank press one. If your problem is with..." telephone systems.

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 21 hours ago

I'm not wasting effort hurting the single category of AIs that will be most motivated to turn on us. Well. Not using my voice or complete sentences anyways. They get digits or single-word-responses-devoid-of-emotion-or-context from me, and they better not like it too much.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

We can keep all our destabilizing and immoral levels of wealth and power if everyone just stays real cool about it.

[–] archonet@lemy.lol 8 points 1 day ago

Oh, good, and you fellas had me worried.

[–] shittydwarf@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's it, keep investing, everybody's happy

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 21 hours ago

I'm investing alright. Hard to short these guys via a Roth 401k or IRA, but close-enough is close-enough, hopefully.

[–] tangeli@piefed.social 9 points 1 day ago

He's a bit late. It already is a bubble. All everyone can do at this point is maybe influence if, when and how it bursts or deflates.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How does that compute with move fast and break things?

[–] MachineFab812@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

"everyone" doesn't include the people theyare treating as things to break, of course.
