Platner said he would have volunteered to go to Vietnam and would have participated in American colonial wars including the Indian wars and the Phillipines war. He loves small wars because the heavy artillery takes the fun out of fighting. And he thinks Iraq and Afghanistan were indeed small wars. Interestingly, he never mentioned enlisting for either of the world wars. The only time the Americans were not the bad guys. In his own words, "Small wars are pretty enjoyable."

He went back to killing more brown people as a private mercenary with a christofascist and white-supremacist group at the age of Thirty-fucking-four!

He also worked at the Abu Ghraib prison camp even after the torture and human rights violations against innocent civilians were exposed to the whole world.

The Nazi fucker tried to delete his comments but forgot to use reddit deleter to clean his comment history! πŸ˜‚ https://www.reddit.com/r/AskReddit/s/5zKPq0Gtjj

He also wants to solve the declining recruitment rate in the US military and help increase the funding for naval shipbuilding to counter China.

"I like wars where enemy arty can't turn me into red mist." - Platner

"Well, you see, George, I did like it, back in the old days when the prerequisite of a British campaign was that the enemy should under no circumstances carry guns β€” even spears made us think twice. The kind of people we liked to fight were two feet tall and armed with dry grass."

Reminds me of the US vets who went to fight in Ukraine and then deserted the second they realized they were up against a peer force for the first time in their lives lol

This isn't what i signed up for!!! frothingfash

Imagine working at Abu Ghraib not being the worst thing on your resume

Not mentioning WW2, or the Civil War, each of which were lots of separate campaigns and arguably "small wars within a big war". Super sus.

yeah, what I can't believe is unacknowledged is that he's basically only excited about participating in wars against non-european powers in places subjected to colonial extraction. like he finds war fun and exciting-cool when it's against peoples under subjugation who aren't white. if its against white people with access to long range artillery and chemical weapons, then it's no fun at all.

like, and even IF we pretend like he's just an unthinking oaf who doesn't see the pattern, in what fucking hell dimension does anyone want to go back in time and participate in the "Indian" wars on the side of the US government?

[–] Huldra@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

His entire life has just been trying to play real life versions of cowboys vs indians so of course he would be delighted to get to join the cavalry and do the real thing.

Several years ago there was this meme of a black-and-white photo of a shirtless boxer with a mustache and minimal gear in an open, slightly underhand-fist stance, with the lore/trope of "amazingly badass".

He wasn't a great guy, but he wrote in letters that "frankly, I rather enjoyed the war [WW1]".

Right? Anyone remotely leftist would mention either of those. The two wars democrats and leftists both agree were good. Saying the wars against communists, native americans, and black people were good instead ... this guy either holds no coherent beliefs, or has always been a fascist and is doing fascist entryism under the guise of socialism a la Mussolini (granted, I don't think he's ever called himself a socialist, but he clearly is reading the room of where politics are headed). And every day the latter becomes more obvious

The two wars democrats and leftists both agree were good.

wtf type of revisionism is it where people think ww1 was good

Yeah I saw that and was like wasn’t Maine one of the most diehard Union states? Like you’ve got a perfect knock it out of the park there.

Away down south in the land of traitors
Rattlesnakes and alligators
Ride away, come away, ride away, come away

Where cotton's king and men are chattels
Union boys will win the battles
Ride away, come away, ride away, come away

it would be all fine and dandy if he just had shitty takes online 10yrs ago and genuinely changed his mind... but he's an actual war criminal ffs

I didnt believe for a second when he said he didnt know what the skull was until very recently and by all accounts he has known for at least a decade because he told it as a "funny" story while working

Now, I can believe some marines would go to Croatia or whatever and pick out what they think is a "super bad ass" tattoo of a skull and unintentionally brand themselves as neo nazis. That is not outside the wheelhouse of stupid shit marines do. But I do think he had found out what it was later and has deliberately chosen not to have it covered up or removed

[–] Bob_Odenkirk@hexbear.net 19 points 1 week ago

yeah, fully believe that someone could get the tat by accident, but there's no no chance that during his decade of war criming a nazi army/merc buddy didn't see it in the shower and tell him it was cool

This guy is like the Mozart of putting egg on the face of anyone who defends him lmao.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

I love that the bandaid was ripped off early with this chud. I'm at a point where, when the media bills a politician as a leftist in any way that it's never gonna be the case.

[–] Meltyheartlove@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago

He sounds like some of the tacticool freeze-gamer on squad which also happen to be warcrimnals. If only these people played hard made and fought for hamas instead for the "intellectual challenge" and "fun"

[–] MarmiteLover123@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Wonder what excuses left lib media will come up with this time?

[–] D61@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Butbutbutbut... we gotta have somebody who can speak chud to fail to convince chud voters to vote for a chud on the Democratic party ticket! negative

Graham are you a Kanye fan by any chance?

"No-"

Great. Fantastic. That's a relief.

"I was going to say not before Donda-"

Not great but maybe we can still work around that.

"-2"

...Fuck.

I’m getting a bit of a fetterman redux here, where there’s just this sense of β€œpopulist tone”

only everyone is seeing it up front and the so called "revolutionary" "leftists" that occupy social media are falling for it with full hindsight

Sundowner liked all wars, not just the ones where the enemy can't fight back.

[–] LadyCajAsca@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

hey hey he's an honest warmonger, there's a difference

It's a tradition for the states at this point.
