No it's the guy that plays Stan in the clip.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 day ago

This is Stan? Who is truly yours AND the biggest fan?

[–] MidsizedSedan@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (3 children)

But... How about....

A bigger TV..

[–] HugeNerd@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago

How about an "OS" that bombards you with ads for games and TV shows?

[–] buttnugget@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Is this the same MidsizedSedan from Michael and Us?

[–] razorcandy@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 2 days ago

It’s not about the size, but what you view with it ;)

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Black Friday, white Tuesday, Asian Saturday, Latino Monday, First Nations Sunday, the days are becoming so diverse. It warms my cockles.

[–] Johnmannesca@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

I like the Latino Monday, Lunes Latinos just sounds better though

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Is it OLED? 8K? Are you still in the double-digit size range like a hobo?

There are still plenty of things you need to buy!

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 136 points 3 days ago (6 children)

Americans aren’t getting Black Friday deals this year.

All the increased prices of tariffs and uncertainty, nobody is going to run a sale worth jack.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 days ago

Can we still wait in line at 4am and beat the shit out of people? I thought this was America?

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago

Americans are getting black eyes this holiday season from being punched in the face by our own government.

[–] Darkard@lemmy.world 70 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Only on Trump Brands and the price tags will say:

REDUCED! ~~$45.47~~ $55.45

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago

I mean, no one runs many sales worth jack shit anyhow. They offer the "door busters" which like 20 people per store get and then everything else is either barely reduced or some cheaply made shit that won't last until the next black friday. I participated in that dog and pony show like twice and that was my experience. So yeah, this year it'll be even more laughable.

We don't have any deals for you, but you could have Black Friday if you wanted. To be honest, you WILL get Black Friday, even if not.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 14 points 3 days ago

Red Friday for everybody!!!

[–] IcyToes@sh.itjust.works 48 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

Joke is Black Friday deals are more expensive than other times of the year.

You ain't even getting cheap TVs. 100 people might get one (as a loss leader), the thousands others overpay or are getting shite they're trying to get rid of.

[–] rizzothesmall@sh.itjust.works 26 points 3 days ago (3 children)

That's one of the things I felt Honey did well is show you how much something cost for the last 6 months when you're on the product page. You could see that they whacked the price up a week before black Friday to show you a "50% Off!" banner.

[–] BombOmOm@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The good news is there are other places that do this still:

Is There Any Deal shows the price history for video games. This one I particularly like as it is good at showing you other stores that often have better prices.

And Camel Camel Camel does this for Amazon.

[–] Pogbom@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

And specifically for Steam games, there's steamdb.info.

[–] sidebro@lemmy.zip 23 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There are other services that do that, Pricerunner for example

[–] mushroomman_toad@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)

pricerunner is owned by Klarna, use pricespy or camelcamelcamel

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

What exactly is wrong with Klarna (besides the fact it's a fintech company)? It started popping up as an option recently whenever I buy something online.

[–] mushroomman_toad@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

CEO is a huge union buster in Sweden and also laid off all his support staff for AI.

Plus, they're loan sharks. They make money off of desparate people.

Genuinely the worst "Swedish" tech company, even worse than Spotify. (Their stocks are listed on the NYSE, so they're actually American companies americanifying Sweden)

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

Read this as onion buster and I was wondering what the poor vegetables did to that person.

[–] three@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago

Conflict of interest.

[–] mushroomman_toad@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 3 days ago (2 children)

In the EU, the 30 day price history is required to be included by law

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 days ago

Oh consumer protections, how I long for thee

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Where's it listed though? I've never seen that, either online or in physical shops. Some places have 'price last changed dd.mm.yy' written on the price tags, but it's far from universal, and doesn't say how much it was before.

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

The way the law translates is that there can't have been a movement on prices in the last 30 days if the vendor is using a strike-through promotion or an amount/percentage off, so they can't just jack up the price the week before basically. So if you see "30% off! Was 100€, get it now for 70€!" then you know the item was sold for 100 for the last 30 days at least.

[–] Eyekaytee@aussie.zone 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Joke is Black Friday deals are more expensive than other times of the year.

You should have laws against that

Michael Hill advertised a “Member Event 25% off Sitewide” sale on its website, implying that all products sitewide were discounted by 25% for members, when some products were not discounted.

MyHouse promoted their sale with ads stating “Up to 60% OFF RRP EVERYTHING ON SALE“, followed by “+EXTRA 20% OFF”. The ACCC considered this misleading as the additional 20% off did not apply to all products.

Hairhouse Online’s “SAVE 20% to 50% SITEWIDE” promotion was misleading because more than a quarter of the products available on its website were excluded from the sale offer.

Ensure discount claims are genuine: Only advertise discounts where products have been genuinely offered at the higher price for a meaningful period. Avoid creating artificially inflated “was” prices solely to support discount claims. This also applies to displaying the RRP price next to a discounted price – if the product has not recently been sold at the RRP price, this could be misleading.

Document pricing decisions: Maintain records of previous pricing to support any discount claims and demonstrate compliance with ACL requirements.

Americans don’t give a single shit about how fucked they are. If they did, they’d do something about it that’s a little more effective than waving signs at a parade.

[–] Zangoose@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

In my experience it's more of a "everyone is too overworked and underpaid to have time to fact check all of the political lies being thrown around." And the people that aren't overworked are either the ones trying to lead protests and voting movements, or the ones upholding the status quo because it benefits them. Definitely not as simple as "Americans hate having basic protections"

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You could just say “pants-pissing fear of possible discomfort to the point that they’ll tolerate outright abuse.”

That’s servile, cowardly bullshit. Those who are overworked and underpaid have greater incentive than anyone to take action.

[–] Zangoose@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Just because someone is underpaid doesn't mean they have nothing to lose. That's exactly why we're in the situation we are right now. People that are buying the propaganda obviously won't do anything about it, and even among people that don't, many aren't in the position where they'll be alright if they get wrongly deported, detained, injured, or even just sent to court. Good lawyers aren't exactly cheap and neither are medical bills.

Yes, the government here sucks and I don't want to be caught dead defending them (especially considering they would never defend me), but creating a divide between regular people is also exactly what they want because it helps them promote their naive nationalism. Attacking regular people isn't exactly a great way to get others to agree with your ideas. All it does is convey a sense of elitism and hostility.

[–] WizardofFrobozz@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Everyone who ever did anything of note had plenty to lose.

Americans think their historical heroes were Disney characters without families, jobs, or hopes- just the “good guys” whose victory was guaranteed.

[–] Zangoose@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Now that I think about it, every single one of your replies is generalizing Americans as a whole. Do you really think everyone thinks like that? Or are your interactions just limited to internet trolls, politicians, and media outlets? I'm saying this because I spent 4 years in public (government funded) high school learning about all of the atrocities we committed both internally and across the world, and I'm sure that barely scratched the surface. Most of the people I know don't idolize any historical figures in the US.

Let me put it this way. You're on lemmy.ca so I'm going to assume you're Canadian. If I started judging all Canadians based on what Alberta does, how would that make you feel? And what about the Inuit people? Canada and its leaders aren't exactly perfect either. Do you want me to start judging all Canadians based on something Trudeau (or any other leader for that matter) did?

Either way, don't bother responding to this because I'm starting to think you're responding in bad faith and I don't feel like wasting energy on this anymore. Have a good day o/

and they still cheer their asses off at hockey games when they unironically put their hands on their hearts and sing it full-throated like absolute clowns

[–] weariedfae@sh.itjust.works 15 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Don't they just jack up the prices in the 60 days prior so they can show "discounts" which is just the regular price or even higher?

Edit: oops this meant to be a reply. Anyway yeah put groceries on sale.

My favourite part of the pandemic was when they promised $1400 in compensation and wow guess what there is a tv on sale for $1400 and people were like: wow, i need a new tv.
