Is the living food storage part from like those honey or sap ants, where they have guys with those giant sacs of honey or sap to feed to whoever wants it?

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Well that's pretty cool if that's it, my brain went straight to cannibalism

[–] AbsolutelyClawless@piefed.social 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's called "social stomach".

[–] shroomato@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

i chewed this for the village who wants some

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm living food storage to myself.

[–] fascicle@leminal.space 6 points 1 week ago

You feed yourself off your large sac?

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago

Sounds like a trait from Rimworld

[–] Zerush@lemmy.ml 32 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Too much activity prevents thinking

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 week ago

Maybe that’s what they want.

[–] stray@pawb.social 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm a little too good at acting as living food storage.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

I think living food storage might be a requirement for multicellular life on earth. Who is acting? What am I James Lipton?

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 20 points 1 week ago (2 children)

It's sinister that all of life's necessities are locked behind paywalls.

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 week ago

Monstrous is what it is.

The very concept of earning one's living, as if we didn't deserve to be alive without sacrificing said life for the privilege.

There is one kind of prison where the man is behind bars, and everything that he desires is outside; and there is another kind where the things are behind the bars, and the man is outside.

Hunter-gatherer groups had significantly more chill time.

Once you find enough food, it's chill time.

I thought that said "anti biologist" at first

[–] Tar_alcaran@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

We're called chemists, and it's more of a friendly rivalry

[–] Grandwolf319@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 week ago

Which makes biochemistry what you get when you combine something with its anti particle, organized chaos.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago

AKA "intelligent design"

Exactly why we are kept busy.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 8 points 1 week ago

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How to Serve ~~Man~~ Ants

[–] abfarid@startrek.website 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Shouldn't it be "lie around"?

So you're saying we have an evolutionary example of "eat the rich"? I say we get started - the ants gave us a blueprint.

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah, it's something that's super useful about humans.

They're very durable, and can follow instructions effectively.

They make excellent slaves, compared to other forms of life.

For me, that's the resource aliens would invade us for.

It's us.

[–] bluebadoo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

The title is a gem. Decard Cain, you beautiful bastard.

[–] ThatGuy46475@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

If we are supposed to lie around then why is it bad for our health

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Because we're also meant to move around.

We're not meant to do either all the time.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 1 week ago

Not moving at all: Muscle atrophy.

Moving too much: RSI.

[–] psud@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

It seems relaxing punctuated by sprinting is good for you
