“ “They’re thinking: ‘Oh I don’t think [I’ll get shot] because I’m wearing civilian clothes and I am not carrying a weapon and all that, but they were wrong,” said Raab, who majored in biology at the University of Illinois before joining the Israel Defense Forces. “That’s what you have snipers for.” “

Don't know about the US, but you can definitely get locked up for war crimes in Germany, no matter where and in what capacity you carried them out

Unless you're an IDF soldier.

I had to stop reading this halfway through. It made me feel sick.

As a Jew I am deeply deeply ashamed for what is being done, supposedly in my name. As a Brit I am ashamed for what my government has enabled.

You know this has little to do with your faith. This is politics, not religion.

Fucking monstrous.

Raab, a former varsity basketball player from a Chicago suburb who became an Israeli sniper, concedes he knew that. He says he shot Salem simply because he tried to retrieve the body of his beloved older brother Mohammed.

“It’s hard for me to understand why he [did that] and it also doesn’t really interest me,” Raab says in a video interview posted on X. “I mean, what was so important about that corpse?”

Those guys left Europe/USA to kill some Arabs, they will never face any consequences from those war crimes and it's just disgusting, I hate this world so much

Wooooooooooh. They better not come back to the USA. I guarantee you they won’t last long once they come back civilian life. These men will shoot themselves from the demons that will follow them.

This person is a fucking sociopath.

I mean, you know his name and the city he lives in. Just because our government won't do anything doesn't mean he won't be punished.

Social media and public records can get you any additional information you'd need.

Daniel Raab from Naperville Illinois

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 18 points 19 hours ago* (last edited 19 hours ago)

You mean Daniel Raab, the war criminal and admitted murderer of civilians, from Naperville Illinois?

[–] wampus@lemmy.ca 9 points 20 hours ago

True, and Israel's hunt for german nazi's in foreign jurisdictions sets some precedent in handling that sort of thing.

Hopefully someone finds where they live and enacts some kinetic vigilante justice one night. I for one hope that the justice happens in front of their families so they too can experience what their loved ones put the Palestinians through.

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 11 points 22 hours ago

Exactly. Then laugh at the family for being so concerned about a corpse
