Yeah that was some unfortunate enshitification. Qbit caught up but it took awhile.
BiglyBT (aka Vuze previously Azureus) has a decentralised chat feature akin to IRC. It's not very active but it's technically very interesting and still working. Rooms can be based on per-torrent, language, region, general purpose and even custom.
