Elianscript

A place for the discussion and sharing of Elian works, both original and found elsewhere.

What is Elianscript? It’s an alternative writing system whose properties combine the linearity of spelling with the free-form nature of drawing.

It’s also kind of like a weak cipher, to those not in the know. Similar to a pigpen cipher, but instead of randomly jumbling the letters, we all agree to do it alphabetically. That way everyone IN the know, can read it.

Full instructions can be found here.

What about numbers? In this community we prefer to use Arabic numbers. Using other systems is fine so long as you post an explanation of how to translate them.

I'm struggling to parse this, reading top to bottom and left to right, it seems like random letters? Is there an extra layer of obfuscation?

It is a somewhat niche sequence of 'words.'

Ia! Ia! Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn.

  • "Ia! Ia! In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." Trying elian in a calligraphic style made me think it would be an interesting way to write something that sounds 'magical' in some way. Hence, this.

Something about elian seems meant for calligraphic interpretation.
