The Trump administration has come under mounting pressure from the president’s make America great again (Maga) base to release files on the case, including a supposed list of Epstein’s influential clients.

Trump, in response, has variously dismissed the existence of such files or said they were invented by Obama and members of his administration, including James Comey, the former FBI director, and Joe Biden, vice-president in the Obama administration.

So the Russian asset is accusing the Obama administration of falsely accusing Russia of something that everybody knows they not only did, but do as a matter of course?

It's not even as if the accusations are particularly noteworthy, They explicitly did not accuse the Trump campaign of seeking out or cooperating with the Russian interference - they just accuse Russia of interfering. As they do in every election (and as virtually every major world power does in virtually every election everywhere).

Trump is really desperate to shift attention away from Epstein, isn't he?

And Gabbard is really driving home the point that she has absolutely no integrity, principles or ethics.

Just another day in the decline and fall of the United States....

Even if this conspiracy theory was even remotely true, and not a distraction to protect the pedophile-in-chief, wouldn't Obama have immunity for everything he did as president based on Trump's precedent?

[–] CocaineShrimp@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 week ago (1 children)

That would require logical thinking though...

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Can't have that!

[–] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 6 points 1 week ago

No no no, you misunderstood. Trump has immunity, no one else did or ever will.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 61 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I’ll be blunt: the fact that Obama did NOTHING when I’m fairly fucking positive there was a LOT of intelligence indicating orangeboi was the Manchurian Candidate is utterly damning. He was so fucking concerned about optics that he refused to move when a nascent existential danger with hostile external support was clearly rearing its head.

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

He was so fucking concerned about optics

To be fair the media went apeshit because he wore a tan suit and used mustard on a sandwich!
With Trump it's like: "Oh and Trump sexually assaults women willy-nilly because he thinks he is entitled to it. But that's OK because that's just who he is."

If Obama had pushed for Trump to be arrested and accused on treason, USA might have ended up in civil war.
That task was not for Obama to do, it was for the judicial and security services. And yes they failed, possibly because security services are generally overwhelmingly right wing.

That said, I would have loved to see Trump in an Orange jump suit, he 100% deserves to be imprisoned for the rest of his life.

Then Trump was voted out 4 years later and voted back in again in 2024. People want a corrupt authoritarian ruling over them. Or at least they prefer that to a black lady.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not even sure the black part is relevant. They also voted for trump over a white lady in 2016.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 4 points 1 week ago

with the help of russian interference, and comey who knowingly did this.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 1 week ago

an indian lady, but they see all brown as black people.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 11 points 1 week ago (3 children)

So this really is Obama’s fault?

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 13 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I don’t blame him for making the joke at orangeboi’s expense that evidently formed the kernel of spite and rage that made him decide to go for it.

I DO blame him for not taking the threat he posed seriously. Especially considering this is the standard dynamic between our two parties - one follows the rules and conventions and etiquette and expected decorum and wrings their hands about not being able to do something… and the other one doesn’t fucking care and just does it anyways.

So: yes.

Refused to move? What did you expect him to do?

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He could have gone to his old reliable drone strike.

[–] ShaggySnacks@lemmy.myserv.one 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wouldn't be the first time Obama assassinated an American citizen,

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 3 points 1 week ago

Yeah, and trump was outside the us around that time at least once. Oh how yesterdays horrors are today's wistful could have beens.

Really? Is that a sentiment American liberals really hold? Do you mean from Democrat politicians or from the general populace?

For the former, I think they've more than demonstrated their inability to hold anyone to account. From Biden nominating Obama's milquetoast, consensus Supreme Court pick to Attorney General, who proceeded to seemly slow walk Donald Trump's multiple federal prosecutions just long enough to make them all irrelevant and eventually dropped. To the current Congressional Democratic leadership who seem to think leadership is just empty gestures and who appear to have learned nothing from dealing with Republican obstructionism, when the shoe was on the other foot.

After the last six month though, I do have faith in Trump ability to exact revenge on this enemies and to get away with things previously considered to be an egregious overreach or illegal.

Obama was president in 2016 and therefore everything he did or didn't do was perfectly legal. That's how it works now, right? Unless you want to talk about 2021?

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Aren't the current and past Presidents immune from their actions while in acting position, according to the Supreme Court?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

That's only for Trump.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

He seems to be rather desparate when you see what ideas he is throwing around to distract from his close relationship to Epstein.

[–] PNW_Doug@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Man, they are really panicking.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)
[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago

Yeah, this is their first attempt at distracting the public from the Epstein thing. Expect even more ridiculous shit to come out of these clowns in the next few weeks.

Controversial statements keep the dicks and dickettes alive in the news cycle. That's what you do when you have no plan, possess no ethics, and have no personality.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 5 points 1 week ago

🥱 more empty threats from MAGA.

These things are not human. They have foresaken their own humanity in favor of their pursuit of power over others.

This only ends with their deaths.

Or ours.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

The actual traitor is pointing fingers

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

good, actually. this is what i want from the pussy ass democrats. I'm so sick of them watching from the sidelines already doing nothing while a republican cunt ravages through the world, bring warcrimes and devastation, only for a fuckass obama type to get elected with promises of change, and pardon said warcrimes to signal that next time they're free to do it all over again. fuck you obama. i wouldn't even be sorry if this went through, maybe you'll see how it's done. I'll count it for obama's own warcrimes anyway.

fuck Biden too. "he's a nazi. he's a fascist! he's an existential threat! oh here's the keys to the country by the way."

disingenuous fucks. capitulators and collaborators. i hope Mamdani's election will signal a new era and the geriatric party, proud defense force of the status quo, will burn to the ground.

[–] humanspiral@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago (3 children)

There is no good reason why Mueller Report was forgotten in 2020. It said that Russian interference meetings with Trump (adoptions pretext) happened, but that sitting president could not be convicted of them. Biden/Garland election interference to keep Trump out of military jail in order to make the most neocon DNC candidates viable continuing the "stop Trump" election platform.
