Europe is absolutely competitive in space through ESA - they've got Ariane rockets, are developing Ariane 6, have the most accurate Earth observation program (Copernicus), and are major partners in the Lunar Gateway station with NASA... their challenge isn't technical capability but rather getting enough consistent funding compared to what the US pours into NASA or what China is now investing in their space program.

The race between billionnaires is one of profit.

Europe managed to land on a comet, and has a project of Mars much earlier than others. I think we should first focus on internally combatting fascism before anything, and that can only be done through proper taxing of the ultrarich and fighting their tax evasion (and if they protest those measures, let hell loose on them; never let them get the narrative!), and using the funds to improve peoples' livehoods., by combatting the high housing prices, the food price crises, and so on.

You know what, as much as I love space and believe it is a critically and strategically important technology, you're right. It's all a lost cause if we turn it over to billionaires like Musk. Fix the root of the problem first before we build a foundation on top of it.
