It’s actually like the title asks; What does everyone here do when you can’t sleep and are wide awake besides being on phone?

So let’s say it’s in the middle of the night and you are unable to sleep. You have to keep things soundless due to family or partner.

Trying to get the phone usage significantly lower when being in bed but it feels like nothing can replace the ‘easiness of mindlessly scrolling’.

I meditate. Very occasionally, I still am not ready to sleep, but it still helps me to do that.

I listen to a podcast, if nothing else works.

Mostly, I don't worry about not sleeping. It took me years to feel OK with not sleeping, but here I am.

Peace.

I've been playing mudborne.

Get up and have the cats bite my elbow.

Doom scroll.

Listen to music, or watch stream vods, specifically Moist Critical's. I do remember when I was really depressed I would put on Mitch Hedberg, it would laugh me to sleep.

I sort out and organize my thoughts, problem-solutions and a plan moving forward. It takes a while, but I get a sound sleep afterwards

Ambien.

Throw on an eye mask and headphones and turn on an audiobook.

Call it quits and get started on work, play a video game, run or workout.

If I still have 8+ hours time I’ll throw in a Zopiclon, otherwise I’ll give up eventually and watch Youtube until the alarm goes off.

I put the phone down as the light coming from it is part of the reason your brain is staying awake.

If I can't sleep I get out of bed and play video games until I fall asleep. Sometimes that means a full night of gaming but most of the time I get tired after an hour or so.

Lay still in bed with the lights off and my eyes closed. If the reason why I can't sleep is noise, I'll put in an ear plug. (Only one, because my other ear is on the pillow and blocks everything out.) Otherwise, I just... you know... try to sleep?

I do visualisation techniques. Mostly, I'm on a soft picnic blanket on a hill with long grass blowing gently with a mild breeze on a warm day. I can smell nearby flowers and I can hear a nearby brook bubbling over little rocks. I focus on the sounds, smells and visuals, and overall sense of peacefulness till my brain drowns out whatever is stressing me out and keeping me awake.

Lately I've been watching videos from twoodfrd on youtube. Guitar luthiery. Gets me napping like no other. Found another that seems promising "Machinery Restorer". Turn on subtitles if you need to be quiet.

I put on a Playlist of DCAU animated series. Batman: The Animated Series through Justice League Unlimited. I've seen them all a million times and it's something that lets my ADHD brain rest. You'd be surprised st how much of those shows are orchestral soundtrack withiut dialog.
