I'm struggling to find recent numbers and want other people to back up what I'm saying before I say it confidently but from what I'm seeing Japan is absolutely bullshiting about eel population being "fine".

Here is a source I found talking about population decline. if someone has something better lmk. The article didn't say anything concrete so I decided to go check.

My first glance at the photo - before reading the title or fully parsing what I was looking at - I thought it was a Wolverine cosplay.
