Yeah that's fucking stupid. Most fans of a franchise care about the franchise, and especially with one this old, they treat it as a part of their identity and deeply like it.
Stupid statements like this will only alienate them and make them give Rowling money anyways. Instead, you could easily get some people to avoid paying Rowling for stuff (e.g. buy third-party Merch or second-hand stuff) and reclaim it (e.g. supporting the actors' views instead).

But I'm a Huffledore and that's my whole personality!! 😭
Some of the most ludicrous people I used to know are... very queer and proud, self describe as 'leftists', and are also mega Potterheads, all at the same time.
Everytime I'd mention that Rowling is a POS, I would literally be shushed, and mean mugged.
Ironically (or perhaps not?) one of these people would later be fired from their job for racial insensitivity.
???????
Cognitive dissonance is really something else.
I think all the attention y’all give to her is what’s keeping this in the cultural spotlight. I basically never think about her, or the books, until I see posts like these on the internet. We gotta separate the art from the artist.
Why are Harry Potter fans so uniquely unable to let go and find a better franchise to support? I know TRANS people that Joanne could apparently deadname them and spit in their face and they'd still spend every disposable dollar they have to buy HP games, merch, and go to the amusement park again.
Keep taking those tests to affirm you're still a Hufflepuff, I guess.
