Original Title: New research in mice shows the role cells called pericytes, located inside capillaries, play in spinal cord injury repair. When exposed to a growth factor protein at the SCI site, pericytes change shape, inhibit and secrete molecules, and establish “cellular bridges” supporting axon regeneration.
