Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

The Pope's fucking dead.

He gave JD Vance three chocolate easter eggs, exchanged pleasantries for 17 minutes, and then keeled over and died.

What a way to go.

Israel-Palestine Conflict

If you have evidence of Israeli crimes and atrocities that you wish to preserve, there is a thread here in which to do so.

Sources on the fighting in Palestine against Israel. In general, CW for footage of battles, explosions, dead people, and so on:

UNRWA reports on Israel's destruction and siege of Gaza and the West Bank.

Russia-Ukraine Conflict

Examples of Ukrainian Nazis and fascists
Examples of racism/euro-centrism during the Russia-Ukraine conflict

Sources:

Defense Politics Asia's youtube channel and their map. Their youtube channel has substantially diminished in quality but the map is still useful.
Moon of Alabama, which tends to have interesting analysis. Avoid the comment section.
Understanding War and the Saker: reactionary sources that have occasional insights on the war.
Alexander Mercouris, who does daily videos on the conflict. While he is a reactionary and surrounds himself with likeminded people, his daily update videos are relatively brainworm-free and good if you don't want to follow Russian telegram channels to get news. He also co-hosts The Duran, which is more explicitly conservative, racist, sexist, transphobic, anti-communist, etc when guests are invited on, but is just about tolerable when it's just the two of them if you want a little more analysis.
Simplicius, who publishes on Substack. Like others, his political analysis should be soundly ignored, but his knowledge of weaponry and military strategy is generally quite good.
On the ground: Patrick Lancaster, an independent and very good journalist reporting in the warzone on the separatists' side.

Unedited videos of Russian/Ukrainian press conferences and speeches.

Pro-Russian Telegram Channels:

Again, CW for anti-LGBT and racist, sexist, etc speech, as well as combat footage.

https://t.me/aleksandr_skif ~ DPR's former Defense Minister and Colonel in the DPR's forces. Russian language.
https://t.me/Slavyangrad ~ A few different pro-Russian people gather frequent content for this channel (~100 posts per day), some socialist, but all socially reactionary. If you can only tolerate using one Russian telegram channel, I would recommend this one.
https://t.me/s/levigodman ~ Does daily update posts.
https://t.me/patricklancasternewstoday ~ Patrick Lancaster's telegram channel.
https://t.me/gonzowarr ~ A big Russian commentator.
https://t.me/rybar ~ One of, if not the, biggest Russian telegram channels focussing on the war out there. Actually quite balanced, maybe even pessimistic about Russia. Produces interesting and useful maps.
https://t.me/epoddubny ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/boris_rozhin ~ Russian language.
https://t.me/mod_russia_en ~ Russian Ministry of Defense. Does daily, if rather bland updates on the number of Ukrainians killed, etc. The figures appear to be approximately accurate; if you want, reduce all numbers by 25% as a 'propaganda tax', if you don't believe them. Does not cover everything, for obvious reasons, and virtually never details Russian losses.
https://t.me/UkraineHumanRightsAbuses ~ Pro-Russian, documents abuses that Ukraine commits.

Pro-Ukraine Telegram Channels:

Almost every Western media outlet.
https://discord.gg/projectowl ~ Pro-Ukrainian OSINT Discord.
https://t.me/ice_inii ~ Alleged Ukrainian account with a rather cynical take on the entire thing.

India has suspended the 1960 'Indus Water Treaty' with Pakistan. Additionally, India has closed the Wagha-Attari and the Amritsar-Lahore border crossings with Pakistan.

India has announced it is withdrawing all its diplomatic staff from Islamabad, and has ordered all Pakistani diplomats to leave New Delhi. There is a full-blown Pakistani-Indian war ongoing in Wikipedia, with Indian editors changing many articles, and Pakistani editors changing them too

One Pakistani editor managed to change the main front page of the Indus Water Treaty, stating that the suspension by India is a 'publicity stunt by the Modi govt.' and can lead to 'catastrophic nuclear war'. India orders all Pakistani nationals with SAARC visas to leave the country within 48 hours.

Iran states it considers India's diplomatic actions against Pakistan to be 'regretful', and that it hopes India will take a 'responsible' position.

India has suspended the 1960 'Indus Water Treaty' with Pakistan.

This seems extremely fucking bad, especially as we head into summer. This is the scariest potential nuclear flash point on the planet in my opinion.

Yep. No reason to go this far. Modi is doing this to look "strong" after his claims of Kashmir being "secure" were shattered.

Comrades, a little breakdown on Pakistan vs India please. Shit appears to be kicking off and I don't trust either government. All I know is that India is basically fascist with those Hindutva freaks in power, and Pakistan has always been a CIA infested state. Where do we stand from an anti-imperialist standpoint, and who's benefiting from this uncertainty right now.

[–] Parzivus@hexbear.net 61 points 5 days ago

India is commiting a slow genocide in Kashmir, no? They've killed tens of thousands of Muslims and tortured many more. Indian soldiers legally can't be prosecuted for anything they do in the province. I'm not hoping for nuclear war today so hopefully we won't see another hot conflict between India and Pakistan, but still.

Have no idea who this is, but it is funny how someone on Twitter has to be on call for Elon Musk to deprioritize users in the algorithm.

An hour ago, Pakistan announced a live fire naval military exercise, starting in two hours time. This is likely in response to India. It's just an exercise.

US airstrikes continue on Yemen for the 40th night in a row. So far, airstrikes have hit the following governorates:

  • 3 on Nuqum Mount
  • 1 on Al-Jiraf neighborhood

  • 3 northern city
  • 6 in Al-Salem

  • 6 on al-Tuhayta.

Warning for potential graphic imagery during ongoing airstrikes:

The Yemeni Armed Forces released a statement yesterday, about the ballistic missile launched at Israel. Video that came later showed an impact, so the missile was not intercepted, despite initial reporting. This is the first ballistic missile attack on Israel that has evaded interception, during the current phase of conflict.

If anyone wants a breakdown of the air defence systems Ansarallah have access to in Yemen, this article provides a good overall list with photos and videos, and explains why there's a big focus on electro-opticcal and infrared based systems (their sensors are passive).

Also, the laser guided AGM-114 Hellfire air to ground missiles have made an appearance on US carriers, visible on the right, AIM-9 Sidewinder air to air missiles on the left. AGM-114s only have a maximum range of 11 km, so these are being used for some close strikes. The US Navy has had plans to integrate the AGM-114 with the F-35C stealth fighter, so that could be what's happening here.

Vijay Prashad

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly condemns the barbaric killing of 28 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir by terrorists. The CPI(M) extends deepest condolences to the families of the innocent people who lost their lives in the attack. Several people have suffered serious injuries in the attack. The CPI(M) extends wishes for their speedy recovery. The perpetrators of the horrific crime must be apprehended and punished. The police and security forces are under the Central Government. The Central Government must leave no stone unturned in bringing the forces responsible for the dastardly attack to justice. The perpetrators of the crime are the enemies of the nation and more so of the people of Kashmir. It is incumbent on the Central Government to probe all angles of the attack including the lack of security in crowded tourist places. The CPI(M) stands united with the people of India in this hour of tragedy against the extremist fundamentalist forces.

Kinda weird to call the central goverment Hindutva fascism for years and then fully support them in increasing the militarization of Kashmir, also Prashad posted this 5 years ago

One year ago, Narendra Modi arrested Kashmir.

In my Opinion the CPI (M) is not looking good

at least the indian communists still have the naxalites

CPI(ML)'s statement is better.

The CPI(ML) Liberation strongly condemns the terrorist attack on April 22 in Baisaran, Pahalgam, where unarmed tourists were targeted, resulting in several deaths and injuries. We extend our deepest condolences to the victims and stand in solidarity with their families.

The Modi government's claim of normalisation of the situation in J & K and chest-thumping on national security stands exposed, as such attacks continue unabated in the region. There has been a disturbing rise in attacks on civilians—residents, migrant workers, and now tourists.

The BJP’s repeated proclamations of “complete normalcy” in Jammu & Kashmir ring hollow in the face of such continuing violence. While the ruling party has declared on every platform that all issues in the region have been resolved, the reality tells a different story. Jammu & Kashmir remains heavily militarized, and terror attacks persist under the watch of this regime. The Modi government’s strategy—suppressing democratic voices while indulging in aggressive posturing—has failed to deliver either peace or security.

We must reject any attempt to use this tragic incident as a pretext to stoke jingoistic and communal narratives. At this critical moment, it is essential for people across the country to stand united and push back the divisive forces seeking to exploit such tragedies for political gain.

https://www.cpiml.net/Press-Statements/2025/04/cpiml-statement-on-the-pahalgam-terrorist-attack

That said, CPI(M) has always despised Islamist fundamentalists, many of the CPI(M) party members in Kerala were killed by Islamists (SDPI and PFI).

The region is disputed territory between India and Pakistan and even if Kashmir was given back its autonomy (which was de facto dead when BJP took over), there will still be attacks against civilians even if Communists took over the Indian Government, material conditions matter, true, but it takes time to change. It is a difficult situation. Pakistan wants a Kashmir where Hindus and minorities are second class people while India wants one where Hindus rule.

Great post by Comrade Anas Al-Qadhi, member of the Yemeni Socialist Party:

“Militias? We socialists were the first to theorize this concept in Yemen, and the first to practice it as a path to liberation and struggle.

Comrade Abdel Fattah Ismail was among the first to develop an ideological vision of the revolutionary militia.

Our National Front, which defeated the British Empire, was not a regular army but a fighting popular militia. The National Front, the Popular Militia, the Revolutionary Resistance, and the Revolutionary Democratic Party—all were armed revolutionary formations born from the people.

And comrade Yahya Abu Asba' was the commander of the People's Liberation Army—let’s not forget.

To the US, Britain, Saudi Arabia, these militias were "terrorist" communist heretics who cursed capital, the Gulf rulers, and imperialist circles!

But to the people, they were the spark of revolution and the voice of liberation.

And so are the scruffy Ansar Allah today—those who carry the banner of sovereignty and reject submission.

The name is no slur, no stigma—it is a badge we wear with pride.

It is our revolutionary history. This is the people's war, waged by the free, left or right.

Under Marx’s banner or Ali’s sword, the battle is the same: dignity and sovereignty.

And you, gentle ones and sons of vipers, have the Americans, Saudis, Emiratis, and British fighting for you!

You beg the “international community” to return you to Sana’a, to restore your state, to build you a liberal paradise on our land!

You are rootless, You fled the land when war broke out, and took refuge in hotels and capitals,

And when the Gulf remittances stop, Your camps collapse into chaos, shouting, and collective breakdown!”
