Because a nazi Sieg Heil is seen as a bad thing by 90% of the world and if he came out and admitted it was one he would probably lose a few supporters from being on his side (probably not a big amount but some)

Is there confirmation that he actually specifically wanted that image off reddit? Or is this just someone making assumptions after the recent story about him interfering with moderation at reddit?
The latter. There's no news about blocking his sieg heil, just articles about the doge critique and banning linking to X.

Actions do have consequences. Trying to erase posts and people calling you out for what you did and explaining why those actions are bad does not make those things that you did go away and is honestly a bad look. If you don't want people on social media calling you a Nazi, there's a really easy solution for that - don't do Nazi salutes on live TV, don't make Nazi puns instead of apologizing, and don't keep regurgitating anti-semetic conspiracy theories like the "great replacement" conspiracy theory.
