I looked back at all the new songs I added to my favourites in Spotify during 2024, and found surprisingly few songs by Canadian artists. Only one, in fact. I don't think this one song is particularly great material for a popularity contest, but I'll throw it in anyhow:
Low Tide by Deer Fang (St. Catherines, ON), released in 11 October 2024 in English.
The first few months of 2025 have been way more fertile, so I have three more nominations in the posts to follow (would be four, but I'm assuming that something from Our Lady Peace's newest album wouldn't count).
Quviasukkuvit (If It Makes You Happy) - Inuktitut - Sep 10 2024
Elisapie (ᐃᓕᓴᐱ) - Canadian Inuk musician
Give in to you - English - Sep 13 2024

Billie du Page - Fake Friends (English) https://youtu.be/1vN7prrtDNg
There's apparently a French version? I haven't heard it but if its same lyrics then sure add both!
Edit: version en français https://youtu.be/7gjeVsxETCI

This album just came out and I can not find it anywhere but their website atm:
Canadian Famous by The Arrogant Worms https://arrogantworms1.bandcamp.com/track/canadian-famous-2
New Arrogant Worms!
Yes,it's awesome! My introduction to them was their Carrot Juice is Murder song.

Dang, I'd swear they are riffing on Buck 65.
✔️ confirmed for the English list
Video is dated Mar 10, 2023
Edit: Wiki says the album was 'released' on February 16, 2024 despite all the videos being out a year prior, so maybe it still counts?
Yup, there's a discussion in the main rules post talking about the different dates. I imagine the organizer will understand if there is some discrepancy
Discogs lists 2024 and MusicBrainz lists 2024-02-16, so I'll add it to the list

Liminal Shroud is my best friend's band and they are fucking great. Reviving metal here in Victoria. I have done a bunch of their photography and videography and am very proud to be involved in the project.

If you have a helpful resource, such as a compilation of Canadian artists in the past year, let me know and I can edit it into this post.
The list of 2025 Juno nominees would probably be a good (but imperfect) place to start.

Dan Mangan - Call Me Up High (English)
I got to hear the song live before it's official release at Red Bird Brewing in Kelowna, a cool little venue.
Dan Mangan has been a BC fixture for years, but I think he's been Canadian successful back east as well. At least he's played Massey Hall and gets coverage on CBC and plays at the Polaris awards. Still, the "international hits" rules sounds a bit squishy, and Dan is only Canadian famous.
Bonus Dan Mangan, Robots live, at Granville Island.
Thanks for all the links, I appreciate it :)

French Canada you say?
I'll suggest Ring Ring by P'tit Belliveau off his self-titled album dropped last year.
P'tit Belliveau is an Acadian from Nova Scotia, and has quickly risen to the top of the French Canadian music scene these past few years after seeing initial popularity from his early hit "Mon drapeau acadjonne vient d'Taiwan".
Woohoo Acadian French mentioned! \o/
Honnêtement, l'Acadie est forte en maudit en matière de musique. Tellement de great artistes de par ici, surtout considérant la grandeur de la population!
Colter Wall....plain to see plainsman
Unfortunately the contest rules require our submission to have been released after 2024-01-01, but I’ll include this in our large playlist at the end :)
New Orleans is Sinking by The Tragically Hip
Songs must have been released within the last year (after January 1st, 2024).
