General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

I always wonder why people get so upset by other people getting care they need.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 15 points 2 days ago

Me thinks it's them trying to cope with a need for control when their life lacks any. In other words: my life sucks so should yours.

And for anyone saying they do it because they want to save lives, there are so so many NGOs in need for volunteers. Shit, pack your backs and go somewhere where you can remove APLs.

Because someone told them that it's an outrageous thing they should get upset about. Divide and conquer.

I wonder why that always works, though

Well done Scotland, for drafting and actually enforcing this law.

It's no surprise that this woman, and the others pictured in the article, are all of a demographic that they're not going to have to actually make maternal healthcare decisions for themselves.

Statically, a decade left on the world, and you choose hate.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Love is multiplayer and hate is single player. She has no one to love and doesn't care to start with herself.

I disagree with her. Mainly because I'm not religiose. But if she honestly believes life starts at conception. Then its really not hate but preventing murder.

I disagree and support the law banning protests near clinics. But failing to understand the other side's motives makes for an ineffective fight.

if she honestly believes

Let's all save some time here. None of these people believe this. They're all acting in bad faith. Feel free to spend several decades working this out, or start now and quit listening to them. They're hypocritical lying bigots with hate in their hearts and a plastic knock-off Jesus crammed in there sideways.

I think it's called religoose.

if you knew of a building where thousands of babies are murdered every year, would you limit your protest against it to standing outside it with a sign?

these people either don't actually believe in the bullshit they spew, or they don't care about the supposedly murdered "babies" and only really care about restricting the rights of pregnant people

You seem to totally forget multiple doctor murders and violence over the years.

Not to mention the simple fact. Just because someone believes something does automatically mean they have the courage to fight in every way. To exclude fear of punishment as the reason these people refuse to act. It is a clear failure to look at the realities of humanity. Completely ignoring a huge history of people objecting to things but still failing to act.
