This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.

Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

notice the steps down to lower output at great financial crash and covid for other countries with no recovery to previous trend level

The word "recovery" used here with regard to this abstract problem-laden statistic is itself indicative of the problem we're facing.

Because the sanctions on Russia have forced them to cut off one of their most important energy partners and switch to US energy imports. They pay more and the US gets more money, of course the recovery worked out this way.
