IronFox is a fork of Divested Computing Group's Mull Browser, based on Mozilla Firefox. Our goal is to continue the legacy of Mull by providing a free and open source, privacy and security-oriented web browser for daily use.

I can't click that link. I guess Droid-ify doesn't handle that protocol. If I try to paste the entire thing into the address field of the "Add repo" screen, it crashes the whole app. Merely pasting it!

I had to separate the bits and do it manually:

Address

http://fdroid.ironfoxoss.org/fdroid/repo

Fingerprint

C5E291B5A571F9C8CD9A9799C2C94E02EC9703948893F2CA756D67B94204F904

Hopefully FFUpdater will add the app to their list soon. And Droidify will probably add the repo to their default list, too.

What's the story behind this?

I'm not sure exactly how far back you need me to go:

  1. Mozilla made Firefox for Android
  2. Divested Computing Group (developer behind DivestOS) forked it into Mull (which is completely unrelated to Mullvad)
  3. The privacy community largely considered Mull to be their mobile browser of choice due to its out-of-the-box focus on privacy
  4. Just this month, Divested Computing Group announced that they will be ceasing development on all of their projects
  5. IronFox was soon forked from Mull, aiming to continue its goals of focusing on privacy
  6. Until now, the only official way to install IronFox was by downloading the APK directly from their git repo (or building it from source, I guess). Now that the developer has set up an F-Droid repo, one can add that repo to their F-Droid app and allow F-Droid to manage downloading/installing/updating IronFox
